How often should you weigh yourself?

Perhaps you have made, this year will finally take off. To track the progress, use the most people have a body scale. But how often should you weigh yourself? There may be this question has no generally valid answer.

The results of a study of persons in the six or seven times per week, weighed, within a year, on average, 1.7 percent of body weight lost. In contrast, people who lost themselves once a week or less waves, no weight. It is assumed, therefore, that the self-monitoring can creates a natural Feedback and as a source of motivation.

Meridian Zerner, nutritionist and Wellness Coach at the Cooper clinic in Dallas, however, is of the opinion that a "one-size-fits-all" Strategy is not the correct one: "The majority of the research work, to weigh daily. If this would have a negative impact in terms of the expectations, the self-esteem or self-initiative, I have to say that once or twice per week."

Some factors may affect the Motivation: Different scales can lead to different results, and even the time of day plays a role. In addition to the fluid intake is also variable and can change hormone levels and sports is the body weight. Zerner says: "When someone loses a pound of fat and a pound of muscle, two pounds of change, which are of importance."

In addition to the body weight, there are other ways to track progress: The energy of life rises, the clothes fit better, I sleep well, blood pressure and blood sugar levels to drop.

Zerner recommends that the body fat percentage and monitor your waist circumference. In men, the waist circumference should not exceed 101 cm and in women 88 cm. "The scale is just one of the many Werkzeugen", she says. "But it gives you a Feedback, to ensure awareness, accountability, and the possibility of what it is like for your body."
